top executive all with the help of a small handbook called How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
The play, with the same name, written by Abe Burrows, delves into the
world of the office and finds out how ruthless, backstabbing, cynical
people with no conscience but all the charm in the world make their

Tickets for the Missouri State Theatre & Dance Production of The Girlhood of Shakespeare's Heroines are on sale now!

The show runs in Balcony Theatre from October 2-3, 6-10, 2008 at
7:30 PM, and October 5 & 12, 2008, at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $8-14,
and can be purchased at any Missouri State box office, or online at
MissouriStateTix.com.

What if women who appear to play supporting roles, in
theatre or in life, were able to play a starring role in their own
stories? The Girlhood of Shakespeare's Heroines by Don Nigro,
completes the idea that all the world is a stage and the life of the
"minor" character isn't always as dismissive as we would like it to be.
This is a journey of loneliness, madness, lust, and humor. In a
strange, other-worldly cabaret a rather lucid Ophelia from Hamlet tells
her side of the story, a mad Mariana from Measure for Measure dreams of
love on her terms, a feisty Miranda from The Tempest catches a glimpse
of life outside the box she has been put in, and 2 actresses Bonnie and
Zoe allow us a glimpse into the comedy and tragedy that exists
off-stage. Funny and sexy, dark and compelling, the words rush forward
with poetic prose, making every last bit fantastic.

Also, be sure to join us on October 2nd after the show for our Opening Night Reception in the Craig Hall Lobby.

Coger Theatre in Craig Hall
Free Event

Springfield Metro area -Kacico Dance, Kansas City Contemporary Dance, presents Light, Movement, Shadow, Sound at Coger Theatre in Craig Hall on the MSU Campus. The performance is sponsored by the MSU Department of Theatre and Dance and is a free event.

Light, Movement, Shadow, Sound, is a contemporary dance treat as light and shadow become partners with movement and sound. Flashlights in the audience, sounds in the dark, and dancers revealed and concealed are just the beginning of the theatrical innovations of Kacico Dance choreographers Michelle Brown, Lindsay Spilker Tate, Shandi Miller along with guest choreographer Rebecca Bryant and composer, Don Nichols, both formerly from Missouri State University and currently at Purdue University. Light, Movement Shadow, Sound is the culmination of a process that included working with modules of movement, minimal lighting, a black and white color scheme, and original sound scores including one created from the sounds of tap shoes used in an unconventional manner. Section titles include Wednesday Evening, Lunar Moth, The John, Under My Bed,and Vectors. Among the talented cast of dancers is Julie DeLancey-Rudolph, a graduate of MSU’s Department of Theatre and Dance who is in her fourth season with Kacico Dance. Also performing with the company is Justin Hundley, a current student in MSU’s Department of Theatre of Dance. Justin interned with Kacico this summer and guest performed with the company in the premier of Light, more Movement, Shadow, Sound at the Kansas City Fringe Festival. Kacico Dance, a company of 9 spectacular dancers, always promises amazingly refreshing creativity and fun. Don’t miss this performance.

This performance is sponsored by the MSU Department of Theatre and Dance, and is made possible by Burger and Brown Engineering, the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation, Key Lighting, Peoples Bank, and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

 Springfield News-Leader

've enjoyed many productions of "Anything Goes" over the years, but Tent Theatre's sparkling new staging of Cole Porter's 1934 classic is the most flat-out entertaining of the bunch. It's fleet, funny and perfectly cast from top to bottom. The music is well-served, the dancing adroit, the acting top-notch and the riotous stage business devised by director Carol J. Maples fills the spaces between the marvelous songs with nonstop delight, as if the Marx Brothers were invading a Rogers and Astaire musical.

Kick-starting the hit parade is the effervescent "I Get a Kick Out of You," sung and danced with sensuous verve by Natalie Hiatt as Reno Sweeney, the sexiest evangelist this side of the Atlantic. On a ship embarking for England she bumps into her old buddy Billy Crocker (Justin Roller). After trading "words poetic" with him in the witty "You're the Top," she agrees to help him win the hand of his true love, Hope Harcourt (Stephanie Elzea), who is engaged to the wealthy but hopelessly square Lord Evelyn Oakleigh (Seth Hunt).

"This production will have the audience saying 'Oh, that's where that song is from'," says Carol J. Maples, director of "Anything Goes," now playing at Tent Theatre.

Some famous songs in the musical include "I Get a Kick Out of You," "You're the Top," and "Anything Goes."

"We are trying to involve the audience a little more in this. We are going to put the lyrics up because they will want to sing along," Maples said.
