A satellite site of the greater Kansas City Writing Project and the National Writing Project.
The OWP will introduce teachers to the National Writing Project model, which is focused on three related activities: (1) demonstrations by teachers of their most successful method for teaching writing; (2) study of current theory and research in the teaching of writing and thinking; and (3) practice in writing and responding to writing in small groups.
The OWP's main premise is that the best teachers of teachers are other teachers. Teachers must apply and be accepted to the institute before enrolling. The OWP must be taken for graduate credit. A modest stipend will be awarded to each person selected for the institute.
